How Anytime Pharmacy can help me?

We provide this regulated, specialist service for women aged 18 or over who would like to plan ahead and have the morning-after pill ready before you need it. Accidents can happen. Though condoms are a very safe method of contraception they can split or be used incorrectly. This service allows you to plan ahead and have a morning-after pill pack ready. If you have already had unprotected sex, you should NOT use this service. Please go to your local GP, pharmacy or family planning clinic straight away.

All services provided by Anytime Pharmacy are confidential (we do not inform your GP) and allow you to get tested and treated within the privacy of your home and without the potential embarrassment of a face-to-face doctor consultation or the inconvenience of lengthy waiting rooms.

Choose same day click and collect from your local participating pharmacy. The benefit of collecting from your local pharmacy is that you can go to the pharmacy at a time that suits you, it's faster than a mail order delivery and no-one has to wait at home to sign for your medicine.

How does the Anytime Pharmacy service work?

Step 1:             Register online and complete the free online medical questionnaire consultation. A doctor will review your questionnaire and, if it is safe to do so, approve you for treatment. You do not pay for your doctor consultation.
Step 2: If you are approved for treatment you will be sent a text message asking you to log back into your secure patient record. You can pay for your morning-after pill service using a debit or credit card.
Step 3: You will be sent a FREE SMS (text message) when a doctor has sent your prescription to your nominated pharmacy. We advise you to call your nominated pharmacy to check your prescription is ready, then collect your medicine.

Why are no prices shown for Anytime Pharmacy treatment services?

Under current UK advertising law we cannot show you prescription-only-medicine (POM) prices prior to a medical consultation with a registered doctor. Once your doctor has approved you for treatment all prices are clearly displayed. Your registration and medical consultation is free and you are under no obligation to purchase any treatment.

All of our prices are fully inclusive, and so for prescription medicines the prices include the cost of the consultation, the issuing of a private prescription, and dispensing of the medicine itself. There are no hidden extras.

How to take your morning-after pill

One tablet should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. If vomiting occurs within three hours of taking the tablet, another tablet should be taken immediately. Levonelle can be used at any time during the menstrual cycle unless menstrual bleeding is overdue as you should NOT take levonelle if you might be pregnant.

What are the potential side-effects (contraindications) of this morning-after pill?

All medication can cause side effects. The morning-after pill has no serious or long lasting side-effects. Some women may suffer from nausea after taking the emergency pill. Rarely some women may vomit after taking the pill. Very rarely the morning-after pill may cause a rash.

When answering your medical questionnaire for the morning-after pill it is very important that you answer the questions truthfully to ensure your doctor has a full picture of your medical history before they prescribe you the pill.

How effective is the morning-after pill?

Clinical studies showed that the morning-after pill if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex prevented 84% of expected pregnancies. It has been shown to be more effective than this if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex and if at all possible should be taken within 12 hours. If you vomit within two hours of taking the morning-after pill, it probably has not worked. The morning-after pill is far less effective than ongoing contraceptive and won't protect you from STD/STIs.

Who should not use this particular morning-after pill service?

You should not use this service if:

1. You are already pregnant

2. You are under 18

3. You are allergic to levonorgestrel

4. You are the partner of the women who wants the morning-after pill
